Aquilegia flabellata v. pumila alba (Fan Columbine)
Quite a mouthful for such a compact plant. It's easy to identify this Columbine, native to Korea and Japan, just from the leaves: they are larger, thicker, and more blue/green than the rest. It is a compact plant, growing only to about 9 inches. It will suffer from lack of moisture, particularly after flowering, and it is recommended to cut it back after blooming. I like to let mine go to seed, however, and you should, too, to let this short-lived perennial reseed. Zones 4-9. Dappled sunlight best.
