Deschampsia cespitosa "Pixie Fountain" (Tufted Hairgrass - Miniature)

SKU:
$9.00
$9.00
Unavailable
Available early May

All of these grasses are beautiful in their own right, but they also serve to  make the plants around them stand out, and "Pixie Fountain" is an example of this.  "Pixie Fountain" is like the Deschampsia cespitosa above - clump forming, moist to average soil, full sun to part shade, and dark green, narrow leaves with flowers that are yellow gold.  "Pixie Fountain," however is much shorter.  It grows 10-16 inches high, with flowers adding another 6-8 inches.  So, you see, it's a little thing compared to its relatives but has a powerful  punch.  It's ideal for containers, edging, small gardens, or planted in masses.   Zones 2-7.  (Photo James Lindsey at Ecology of Commanster [CC BY-SA 2.5 (http://creativecommons.org/licenses/by-sa/2.5) or CC BY-SA 3.0 (http://creativecommons.org/licenses/by-sa/3.0)], via Wikimedia Commons)
