Monarda "Violet Queen" (Beebalm)
This is one that I sold a few years ago and have brought back because everyone loves it, including me, the hummingbirds, and the butterflies. It grows in full sun or partial shade, is deer and rabbit resistant, and is more resistant to mildew than some Beebalms. What I like most is that it's really tall, and the showy violet blooms stand high and proud for a long time. Sources say it grows to 47 inches (I wonder how they arrived at this odd number), but it can go at least five feet and more in the right place - let's just say 63 inches. It's a fast spreader and can be divided in early spring. Zones 4-9.
