Dianthus barbatus Auricula-eyed Mix (Sweet William)
This Sweet William is more like the Sweet William I remember from my grandmother's garden, and last year a customer asked me to grow this one, so here it is. The colors come in a range of reds, white, and purple, each with an "eye" in the center. It grows to 18 inches tall in sun or part shade and moist soil. All Sweet Williams are lovely grown in borders, containers, or en masse, and their clove scent is irresistible. Although considered biennial, Dianthus barbatus often reseeds. Zones 5-9. Quarts.
