Lilium superbum (Turk's Cap Lily)
I know you've seen these before: tall; reddish orange, freckled blooms, and lots of them; central green star; recurved sepals and petals that resemble the cap worn by early Turks; and beautiful beyond words. Yes, that's it: Turk's Cap Lily. This native magestic lily takes a while to establish itself, but once it does, you will eventually have a colony. Give it sun or partial shade and moist soil, as its natural habitat is wet meadows, swamps and woods. Zones 5-8. Quarts.
