Iris verna (Vernal Iris, Dwarf Violet Iris, Spring Iris)
This native, clump-forming Iris is similar to the Crested Iris, although it is uncrested. It grows from 6 to 10 inches high and 12 inches wide, at maturity. Violet, with deep yellow/orange blotches on the falls, it is ideal for borders, walkways, in the wild, or in a formal setting. Iris verna grows naturally in dappled sunlight, but does equally well in full sun to deep shade. It is long lived and a herald of spring. Zones 4-10. Quarts.
